Newsflash: The holidays are upon us! You’re welcome, for those of you living in a cave. For the rest of you, are you desperately seeking some last-minute gift ideas for friends and family with furry children? Well, if you don’t want to buy another leash, toy, bone, or bowl, here are a few ideas for the dog-lovin’ people on your holiday shopping list this year (Ahem, feel free to add us, too).
The Tiny Tim: A donation to a dog rescue or animal friendly non-profit, such as your local shelter or Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. Everyone wins with this: you and your recipient feel like awesome do-gooders, and animals in need get help.
The You-Spoil-Me-Rotten: Pet Groomerie offers gift certificates, as do other retailers and even some veterinarians. This is another feel-good gift, because it gives people an excuse to do something awesome for their dog without having to feel all, “Is it in the budget this month??”
The Who-Knew-They-Offered-That: There really is a market for everything: at A Dog’s Life you can purchase a bottle of wine for a friend and have the label personalized with their dog’s photo. You even get to come up with a name for the wine, so get as hokey as you want. And 10% of the profit goes to rescue dogs!
The Gift That Keeps on Giving: BarkBox is like the Wine of the Month Club for dogs. You can purchase a single month as a gift, or a multi-month subscription if you’re really rolling in the dough. Your dog will receive a BarkBox in the mail full of toys, all-natural treats, grooming supplies and the like. Imagine how your dog’s relationship with the UPS guy could change for the better… (Oh, and BarkBox gives a portion of its proceeds to rescues as well.)
For the Learned Set: Books are always another idea. All you have to do is a Google search, but here are two contenders: 101 Things to Do With Your Dog and, for the kiddos, Having Fun with Your Dog.
